Sound story experience...

Actual Sound Story Video

Foley Stage!

This is how we planned out the sound story:

1.       Birds in the morning

2.       Toast coming out of oven

3.       Jam spreading on toast

4.       Mom saying, “You’re going to be late” (dialogue)

5.       Footsteps rushing downstairs “Coming

6.       Bite of toast being eaten

7.       Footsteps to car keys

8.       Sound of car keys shuffling

9.       Footsteps to bookbag

10.   Zips bookbag

11.   Two footsteps going to door

12.   Door opening

13.   Locking door

14.   Entering car door

15.   Shutting car door

16.   Car zooming away

Considering this was our planning, I think we did well with the execution!

Soooo the experience of making the sound story was interesting...very different 😋. Lucia was lucky and on vacation so she recorded her sounds beforehand. She was a foley artist in her kitchen, creating her sounds for chewing toast, the toaster bread coming out of the oven and spreading jam/butter on the toast. That happened on Thursday (10/14). Then Kimora and I met up at her house (10/15) and tried to record our sounds.

At first, it was difficult especially since we had the giggles and kept failing at creating sounds. Also, our favorite show 'You' FINALLY had the new season come out so we were a bit distracted. Eventually we got everything in order and got our sounds completed. The easiest sound to record was definitely the footsteps down the stairs, it's really not that difficult to film me running down the stairs... The hardest sound to record was the car backing out of the driveway and zooming away. Kimora and I kept laughing since she backed out and hit her trash can, luckily no damage was done. Then we forgot to roll up the windows SOOO her mom woke up the next morning thinking that someone broke into her car... Some sounds that we had to search up on YouTube rather than record it ourselves were the morning birds chirping. It would have been sorta hard to wake up really in the morning and record birds. Also, Lucia, Kimora and I did not have toasters that dinged so we had to find a sound for it on YouTube as well.

Now editing... Overall it was very easy! We used IMovie which I already knew how to work because I had to use it all the time in eighth grade. Since it was a while since I used the editing app, I struggled at first, but YouTube really helped me figure everything out. Also, we had to fade the sounds into each other so it could sound cohesive and that was a hot mess BUT after many YouTube videos and trial and errors later WE DID IT! YAY! Personally, I think Lucia, Kimora and I's sound story is GREAT. 😌
