Filming day 2
HEY BLOG
Very excited to talk about our second and final day of filming! It was very successful.
Here we have the most a photo from my point of view inside Lucia's car and Alexa, Kimora, and Lucia outside getting ready to film me coming out.
We began to film the establishing shot first, which was when I walked out of the car and went to the front door. We had a few mistakes and oopsies. First, Lucia's car door is ASTRONOMICALLY heavy so opening and closing it was really difficult. Also, we needed to get Alexa into a comfortable position. She was essentially laying on the concrete floor which, as you can imagine, is not comfortable. Luckily we got everything figured out and we got our establishing shot!.
Next, we had to film the scene where I entered Lucia's front door, but that was an easy shot to get. The only minor issue we faced was figuring out when to close the door. A lot of us had different views but we ended up just refilming everything to a low angle so the door situation would get resolved.
This was Lucia's backyard, which was a very important setting. Alexa and Lucia are by the camera figuring out how to angle everything.
Lucia's backyard was WONDERFUL I mean, obviously, it's gorgeous but it was super ideal for filming. Again, everything was pretty smooth sailing. We got the shots ready and Alexa was able to properly film. The only minor set back we had was seeing which song was best to utilize. We couldn't use anything with copyright so we had to opt for something else. The music we chose was corny and it was hard not to giggle to it, but it was effective. Also, trying to film where the sun was hitting properly was a little difficult considering the amount of clouds in the sky (evident in the picture...)
Here is Kimora and Alexa capturing Naline and Natasha dancing so we can include it in our opening shots.
This was another scene that was fun to film because Natasha and Naline kept laughing. We called this scene "Disney Dancing".
Here Lucia and Alexa were discussing the first question scene that my neighbor, Wayra, was going to ask me. They decided to utilize an over the shoulder shot then switch it to a POV shot.
Luckily, this was another easy scene to do. All the nerves of being in front of the camera left since we had been shooting for a while. Also, Wayra has been my best friend since 1st grade so none of it was awkward to film. But, during the POV shot looking into the camera was a little strange because I felt like I would be staring into the soul of the person watching the film.
Alexa, Kimora, and Lucia were looking at how to prop up the camera because Lucia had a sculpture which was way too heavy to move. Eventually we had to move positions so the sculpture wasn't in the way.
The giggles definitely posed a struggle. I couldn't keep them in. Natasha is so nice so screaming at her was difficult. And the "mean girl" persona she was putting up was funny since that is the exact opposite of how she acts.
THE MOST ICONIC SCENE...The Ruby/Rachel argument. Natasha and Jacob so kindly agreed to help and be the actors for this scene. I was screaming at Natasha (AKA Ruby) for getting with my boyfriend, Jacob (AKA Caeleb). This scene has many...MANY retakes, mainly my fault since it was impossible for me not to laugh and Jacob and Natasha. Nevertheless, WE DID IT and we did it amazingly.
HERE IS THE FABULOUS GROUP. We ended the filming day by eating pizza that Lucia's mom so kindly bought us. We had so much fun and we are so lucky that everything went well and we honestly barely had any issues. Time for editing!
