Representation

Our film was inspired by a teenage drama. There were certain points that I feel as if they were quite sterotypical. This can be seen with the whole cheating scandal (flashback scene) with Ruby and Caeleb. This resembles most teenage dramas in the sense where boy issues like this occur.

When the audience is first introduced to Rachel's character, she seems like a regular teenage girl who likes to hang out with her friends and is living her life perfectly. However, as we the film continues, it is clear that is not the case. Her life is...simply not it.

In regards to the physical diversity of our film, our extras come from many different backgrounds and ethnicities. None of us looked remotely similar, but then again being from South Florida is a huge advantage to this. We live in a, relatively speaking, diverse area. If we were to be from the middle of nowhere, it w0uld have definitely been much more difficult to find so many different groups of people.

Our film challenged representation by showing the hard sides of mental health. While we did not go into that much detail, our audience will still understand our message. The film touches on subjects that are considered 'taboo'.

The only thing I would have probably change, would have been the way we focused on Rachel's mental health issues. I would have liked to go more into depth. But, considering we only had two minutes, I know that would have been difficult. All in all, I feel that with the time limit given, we were very successful in achieving what us four girls envisioned.
