title sequence

We started to add titles during the editing process and Alexa would call us as she began inserting the title sequence information and was able to get Lucia and I's feedback and incorporate our thoughts into the title shots.

When we first made the storyboard, our group wanted to have the credits alternate between corners of the screen and Alexa was, fortunately, able to accomplish our vision!

Here is how Alexa began including credit sequences on the corner of the screen (just like we wanted)

In regards to the text color for the credit sequence, we chose white because it was the most simple and visible to the eye. However, we did use a light, almost bubblegum pink, for the flashback scene because the white was not that visible. Also, the pink watched the shades of pink my character, Rachel, wore throughout the film, so that was a nice touch.

The color Alexa decided to use for the title credit was also pink. Our title was on a black screen and we thought it would be a nice touch to match the pink shirt I wore (which the audience can see from the last shot) to the pink title. Additionally, the smile that appears with the title credit was white because it matched with the rest of our credit scenes and it was easy to see.

When we tried finding the font we wanted for the title, Lucia, Alexa and I found 7 different fonts that we liked. From there, we were able to cut out and we finally chose Didot as our font for the title. But unfortunately... this was before Alexa and Lucia discovered that iMovie was not necessarily...cooperating with our desires. This was an obvious drawback as we had imagined in our storyboard having the text over my character's eyes to emphasize her smile. Alexa spent a lot of time attempting to figure out how to fix this unfortunate mess.

Lucia ended up suggesting using the website Canva to make the title, and it worked! So shoutout to Lucia for being our life savior. Alexa and Lucia ended up having three options for the title sequence.

Eventually, the group approved option 1 as our title sequence...however, when Lucia and Alexa put it into the actual film it looked AWFUL. The title looked so blurry and it was just not at all that we wanted. Once again...a solution was needed. We are so lucky that Lucia was able to create a  credit that had a white smile with the title appearing in pink font with the ability to go over the black background. Alexa added Lucia's creation to the shot. It looked BEAUTIFUL. We collectively loved the way it looked and decided that even though it was not what we originally planned, we could use it as our title credit. We had a slight detour from our original plan, but the detour led to this magical creation! With that, we finally had everything done.
