First day of filming shenanigans

Here is a picture of Alexa and I in her bathroom and she is trying to figure out the angle that looks best.

Hi Besties, very excited to blog about the first day of filming! We first filmed on February 11th and it was overall VERY successful! We filmed at Alexa's house which she so kindly allowed us to use and everything was smooth sailing...well at least most of it.

So, to start filming took about 3.5 hours and I know...that's a long time BUT this was the first time we were using the camera so propping it up, trying to see which angles looked best, and trying to stop all the giggles from happening was hard. It was understandable that we took forever.

Another picture of Alexa setting up the camera. This took a little time since it was one of the first times she was using it, plus, the camera was fragile so she could not act roughly with it.

Alright, the first real challenge we faced was when we first got there. I was supposed to bring lip gloss, but I forgot it. Luckily, Kimora was able to drive back to her house and grab some because she lived very close. So, that hurt our time for about 15 minutes. Fortunately, she came back and we commenced filming. While she was out, however, Alexa, Lucia, and I were in the bathroom deciding how close or far we should put the camera.

Here I am :D! This was a fun behind-the-scenes picture. If you're wondering why everything is taking place in a bathroom is because that day we only filmed the bathroom scene.

When Kimora came back, we finally started filming. Another struggle was getting that first shot (not our establishing shot, but the first shot of the bathroom scene). We couldn't exactly figure out which movements looked best or how fast or slow we had to make everything. But, finally, we got it and we started. I would say it took about 7 tries. We wanted it to look perfect.

More pictures of Lucia, Kimora, and Alexa seeing the angles and discussing what looks good and what does not.

Our major struggle was the giggles, it was really hard to contain! More often than not, I had to ask Kimora and Lucia to exit the room because seeing them through the mirror made me laugh... Specifically, during the scenes where I had to cry it was HARD. My acting skills really pulled through though. Kimora had to knock on the door for one of the scenes but there were so many times where she either got a text, or missed the cue, or the biggest issue, where we could not figure out how to do a whip pan properly. Lucia was communicating with Kimora and signaling when it was the proper time to knock but of course, issues out of our control occurred. Nevertheless, WE PREVAILED!! We got our perfect shot, but we had to do a few minor adjustments to be successful.

In our final shot, the beautiful Kimora and the amazing Alexa were trying to see how to shoot it (without having Alexa fall off the countertop...)

This was another hard shot to do because Alexa was very likely to fall off her bathroom sink, which we obviously did not want. Also, her countertop was quite high off the ground so we had Lucia lift her up so she could get on top. At first, we were going to keep the camera how we originally had it, which was in the position all the other shots were in, but Kimora suggested we do something different and I think her suggestion was a great one. It really added to the intimacy of the main character and the audience.

During filming, Alexa's mom SO KINDLY bought us pizza! We all ate it (we were very hungry...) and it was delicious. Overall, very fun filming day and I can''t wait for day 2 to be even better 😁
