EDITING PART 2

Hi Everyone, very excited to announce that editing is ALMOST COMPLETE! As Alexa is our main editor, we are obviously being fair with her busy schedule. The goal was to have editing due by tomorrow, (03/11), but Mrs. Woz so kindly extended our due date for the project.

As of now, Alexa spent the first day of filming (02/11) editing the bathroom scene, which took her around 2 hours. She put the clips in order, cut out unnecessary moments too, for example when she would say "1,2,3 go". She has also spent around 4 hours editing the first portion of the film, which includes the opening shot all the way to the part where I enter the bathroom. Throughout this time where she has edited both parts, she has cut unnecessary footage, utilized dissolved transitions, learned how to play around with filters, and began to be more comfortable with iMovie. Although she is the sole editor, she calls Lucia and me to give her feedback and suggestions. As I mentioned in the last blog post, when she edited the first time, she called us and we were successfully able to complete a big portion of the editing.

Here is a picture Alexa took of her including the credit titles.

Last night (03/10), Lucia, Alexa, and I once again got into a merged call and worked on the credit and the fonts we want. To say this was a lengthy process is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Alexa texted the group chat at around 6:10 saying that she began editing and that we could call her. During this time, I was studying for a math quiz and I wanted to finish and make sure I knew everything. Lucia also has the same math as I do, so we were planning on studying together, but I started about an hour before so when she called around 7:30 PM, she suggested that we study and call Alexa simultaneously. So throughout the entire time, Lucia and I were giving suggestions to Alexa and doing math reviews at the same time. It was definitely chaotic but we managed to pull through.

Some of the footage here actually had to be cut completely, but here is the process of adding credits.

Since Alexa did most of the important editing, we just needed the credit fonts, but we did not think that it would take THIS long. By the time Lucia and I called Alexa, It was almost 8:00 P.M. Alexa had already been working for 2 hours. We finished the group call at 10:00 P.M. So, in total, another 4, very lengthy, hours were put into post-production.

Our Queen Alexa editing our film.

Getting the perfect font was difficult because we went through all of them, and there were at least 70 fonts. It was tedious, but we finally got it! Before picking out the fonts, we had to decide what were the names of our side characters, however, this did not take long. It was actually quite fun picking out random names. After the font fiasco, we needed to find the PERFECT font for the title of our film. This was another lengthy and obnoxious process, but we picked our title font which I'm very excited for you all to see!

As per usual, we had the struggles of using a call merge to do this entire process. As Alexa has an android, we can't group FaceTime. So, Alexa was in a discord call with Lucia through her computer and I was on FaceTime with Lucia. So, Lucia had to show me through the phone the displayed screen on the computer, where Alexa projected her own computer.

During the very long FaceTime call, I decided to take some pictures!

I had to leave midway because my dog decided to create a catastrophic mess in the kitchen that I had to clean, so there was a point where only Alexa and Lucia were discussing the font situation. When I got back, they showed me the final font and we had to search how to physically move it on the screen since we want the title to cover my eyes. It was another tedious task but Alexa figured it out.

Lucia, Alexa, and I have collectively decided to have Alexa's brother, Alan, watch our film to get an objective perspective. So, very excited to update you on that.
