Ideas that had to get tossed out...

I feel like I have somewhat of a big imagination. So, when I was told I had to come up with a 2-minute film opener, my mind immediately went to making my film based on a girl with an eating disorder. This plan was going to be executed....until it wasn't.

I'm someone who comes from a long line of women who have suffered from eating disorders, and it's definitely not fun. But, because I knew the subject so well, I believed making my film based on it would, 1) Be Easy, and 2) Bring closure to the pain I have felt with eating disorders. I did not realize just how triggering it would be.

When coming up with the ideas, I thought of things like showing the main character throwing up after eating, weight herself daily, and excessively exercising. Cambridge did not necessarily give me a limit on what I can and cannot film, but something tells me this topic was a little too personal for all this information.

That being said, I was very stubborn and did not hear the critiques of my bestie, Kimora, when she told me maybe doing it based on an eating disorder was a little... too much. However, I came to my senses and realized that it was a heavy topic that I probably should not have based my project on.

Nevertheless, we still had an eating disorder aspect to our final film, but it was not too detailed or too in-depth, but the audience still understands what we are trying to put out (hopefully). Originally, we were going to do a bulimic scene, but again, we thought about how it was not entirely appropriate, and also, we were on a time limit so it would not have been able to make the cut anyways.
